"My computer's running slow..."
How often have you experienced that moment when your computer's running slow or not loading a program, or your wireless printer suddenly won't print? For every person we've spoken to over the last few years about building a web presence we've also encountered four times as many struggling with slowpoke computers. And when you take the computer in to be looked at you'll find that the technicians spend half their time on your computer just... waiting (which you're paying for!) - for most "slow computer" issues that waiting time can be expensive, but to get to a solution that wasted time is part of a technician's job description. Indeed much of the time in repairs and rebuilding stubborn computers can be spent watching the computer roll over slooowly, as it heads for another inveitable error message. C'mon you nerds, we've all been there!
Faced with the inevitable headache of spending half your valuable day waiting for the computer to catch up with you we decided to put up some freebie information sheets that can provide basic self-help guidance before having to face those IT nerds. The very first item you should have installed on your brand new computer is an antivirus and/or security suite. There's no excuse, and those who don't will inevitably suffer malware attacks, trojan and phishing exploits and could end up losing valuable data. There are free antivirus suites that will suffice temporarily but to get away from annoyances like pesky ads, lack of software support and recommendations for purchasing pricey and unexpected add-ons your very best investment will be a paid and supported antivirus suite.
